SUMMARY OF THE POSITION
The Central Groups and Connections Director leads initiatives that connect people to the church, foster spiritual growth, and create an environment that invites people into engagement. They oversee the development and support of small groups, design discipleship pathways through midsize groups (especially Alpha), and manage volunteer recruitment and engagement across ministries. This role also ensures that guests have a positive experience, from their first visit to their integration into the life of the church, as well as creating and managing metrics that measure overall health in these areas. Through collaboration with leadership and strategic evaluation, the central groups and connections director ensures that each ministry area at each campus thrives and aligns with the church’s mission of helping people come to know God and grow in him.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strategy
- Drive the strategy and systems for discipleship through guest experience, volunteering, and groups across all campuses.
- Resources
- Provide the resources necessary for campus staff to carry out the ministry strategy with clear expectations and direction.
- Training
- Provide ongoing training, communication, and follow-up for campus staff and volunteer leaders so they can be more effective, prepared, and skilled in their specific ministry roles.
- Support
- Come alongside the campus staff and empower them to reach, shepherd, and develop their people by providing administrative help, rock support, and more.
QualificationsJob Qualifications
- Proven experience in leading or supporting discipleship ministries in a church setting.
- Knowledge of discipleship models and spiritual growth strategies.
- Must be both relational and highly administrative, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage systems, reports, communication, follow-up, and ministry details with consistency and accuracy.
- Experience in volunteer management, including recruitment, onboarding, training, and retention.
- Ability to manage guest experience systems that create a welcoming and engaging environment.
- Familiarity with church database or volunteer management software (Rock knowledge preferred).
- Strong organizational skills for coordinating events, programs, and ministry teams.
- Ability to support staff and volunteer leaders, work across multiple departments, and help staff strive toward vision-driven ministry goals.
- Skilled in analyzing systems, solving problems, and improving ministry effectiveness.
- Ability to provide pastoral support and encouragement.
- Solid theological understanding to lead ministries effectively.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends, travel locally, and assist with ministry events and physical setup needs.
