Job Title: Pastor, Newlands Youth Direct Oversight: Scott Denton, Pastor
Summary of Position
Develop an effective youth ministry that will lead students into an intimate relationship with God by helping them Know God, Belong to Family, Discover Purpose, and Build the Kingdom.
Create a discipleship strategy that includes an impactful group structure to help students grow in a Biblical worldview and Christian maturity.
Develop adult leaders who will invest in the spiritual lives of youth.
Principle Responsibilities Modeling Biblical Priorities Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of Newlands Church. The Pastor should represent a growing personal relationship with Christ. He/she should model a strong relationship with his or her spouse (if married) and children (if applicable). The Pastor strives to fulfill his or her purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships, and actions.
These objectives are accomplished by:
Committing to a daily quiet-time with God.
Participating in and/or leading a Newlands Church group on a regular basis.
Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity.
Developing personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
Supporting the ministries of Newlands Church by faithfully tithing.
Adhering to and encompassing the Core Vision and Values of Newlands Church employees
Team Dynamics:
Lead a team comprised of both staff and volunteers
Develop leaders and team members to ensure ministry excellence
Oversee the organization and electronic storage of trainings and resources
Define, communicate and monitor best practices and policies for each area
Manage and oversee all scheduling of team members in a way that aligns with the culture and vision of Newlands Church, specifically a culture of rest and allowing them to attend a weekly service.
Oversee workflows to process new team members
Provide leadership as a member of the Central Team to Youth staff and volunteers at all locations. Provide valuable insights into future Youth facility needs and portable contexts
Oversee special events for Youth ministry, i.e. summer camps/gatherings, outreach, etc.
General Responsibilities
Pastoral leadership of Youth Ministry
Must have ability to communicate vision to parents, students and volunteers
Develop systematic team building and leadership development within the ministry
Work with your direct oversight to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive youth ministry that fits within the overall vision of the church
Develop and implement a strategy to help students grow deeper in their knowledge of the Word of God and areas such as Biblical Worldview, apologetics, and evangelism
Oversee weekly groups and monthly events for students from 6th to 12th grade
Recruit, train, and develop Youth Ministry leaders and volunteers
Develop and distribute volunteer resources necessary to lead effectively
Partner with the Kid’s Pastor to develop cohesive ministries with an intentional transition from Kid’s Ministry to Youth Ministry
Consistent involvement with the pastoral needs of the students and leaders.
Creating a service environment within the monthly gatherings that connects students to Growth Path, Build Team, to worship, pray, build healthy community, and challenges them to grow as leaders within the church
Student Groups
Oversee all Newlands Youth groups in coordination with the Newlands Groups team
Research and determine principal student group locations
Recruit and train adult/parent group leaders
Select, edit, and distribute existing curriculum for group leaders
Regular Events
Plan and host regular events for Youth Ministry
Recruit and train a full complement of volunteers for events
Effectively utilize existing curriculum to develop and deliver messages intended to engage students
Work with the Worship department to create engaging worship for weekly events
Annual Events
Utilize annual events to enhance the overall Youth Ministry, i.e. camps, retreats, mission trips

c) Preferred Education/Certification(s)
Bachelor’s degree or higher in biblical, theological or ministries studies is preferred
Experience: 3-5 years of experience in the field or a related area
d) Physical Capabilities
Must be able to sit for long periods of time
Be comfortable with being fully engaged and excited
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
