Lake Charles Bible Church (Lake Charles, LA) Senior <\/span><\/span><\/b>Pastor<\/span><\/b> <\/span><\/b> THE BIG PICTURE<\/span><\/b> Lake Charles Bible Church <\/span><\/span>(https://lcbc.family<\/a><\/span>)<\/span> <\/span><\/span>is seeking a full -time Senior Pastor to preach the Word of God and shepherd the people of God.<\/span> <\/b> About LCBC<\/b> LCBC is a faithful and enduring body. <\/span><\/span>We began as multiple home meetings in the early 1930’s, then worked together to rent a chapel and hold our first service as <\/span><\/span>an interdenominational church <\/span><\/span>in 1934 in Lake Charles. <\/span><\/span>The congregation has had five pastors since 1949. <\/span><\/span>Phil Carpenter is our current pastor who has shepherded the flock for twenty -eight years and is planning to retire when we find the next man God has for us. <\/span><\/span><\/span> Our congregation has been a resilient one. <\/span><\/span>There have been three buildings. <\/span><\/span>Fire and flood moved us from our first building in the 50’<\/span>s, and now floods and hurricanes have moved us from our last one in 2021. <\/span><\/span>Our new building is currently being built. <\/span><\/span>This one will be on a very high property with a back yard of 100 -year -old live oaks. <\/span><\/span>We eagerly anticipate being back in our own home building. <\/span><\/span><\/span> Our faithful body has 74 active members and about one hundred people who attend worship on an average Sunday. <\/span><\/span>Our body is elder -led and supported by deacons. <\/span><\/span>We hold that the main purposes of the church are evangelism, discipleship, and worship. <\/span><\/span>To help accomplish these goals we have organized ministries of Sunday School, worship team, small groups, men and women’s ministries, Awana, youth and college ministries. <\/span><\/span>In 1976, the church joined the Independent Fundamental Churches of America (IFCA), so that people moving into the Lake Charles area would know of its location. <\/span><\/span>We have relationships with two camp ministries. <\/span><\/span>Our local Camp Pearl provides retreats and camps to our body, and our body supports the camp financially and physically with volunteers. <\/span><\/span>We also provide the comprehensive staff for a week of camp every summer at Bertram Bobb Bible Camp in Oklahoma as an annual, church -wide mission trip. <\/span><\/span>We support multiple full -time international missionaries as well. <\/span><\/span> Senior pastor role description:<\/span><\/b> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Serve as the preaching and teaching<\/span> <\/span>elder<\/span>, weekly providing sermons with an emphasis on verse -by -verse, literal, exegetical preaching from a <\/span><\/span>dispensational<\/span>, free grace viewpoint.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Study faithfully to teach the Word of God for the building up and equipping of the body.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Serve as one of the elders of the church.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Be a central point person for communication for the church.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Plan and lead Sunday services.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Provide shepherding and congregational care of the church body.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Lead by example, fostering a culture of love, faith, and service.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Encourage and promote evangelism and missions based on the clear Gospel message of grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.<\/span> Senior pastor role qualifications:<\/span><\/b> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Meet the qualifications of Timothy 3:1 -7; Titus1:5 -9; and 1 Peter 5:1 -5.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Possess biblical and theological knowledge, preferably from seminary training, Bible college or systematic training within a local church.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Experience shepherding a church through the pastorate or active eldership.<\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Must affirm and be in agreement to the LCBC statement of faith. <\/span><\/span><\/span> • <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>Must love others and have a position of humility and service.<\/span> THE PROCESS<\/span><\/b> Please look over this job description and the church website.
